My Humble Beginnings

Updated: Jun 6, 2020

My Family, Life and the Earthquake

I was born in Marigliano a little paesino nella provincia di Napoli, at the very feet of Mt. Vesuvius. It is a small place with great history and culture. It is very seasonal, cold in winter, hot in summer in full blossom in spring and chilli in autumn. Our Patron Saint is San Sebastiano; he saved Marigliano from extinction by stopping the lava from Mt. Vesuvius

I was the first born to Ignazio Silvestrino e Anna Maria Perrone in early march of 1968.

My father, is a skilled artisan, mastro fabbro, very well respected for his craftsmanship, a man I should show more respect to than I do because of his heroic decision of bringing his young family to Australia in 1981 after the Campania earthquakes

My Mother, a passionate and avid cook with silky skills in the kitchen, she is the inspiration of who I am today.

I grew up with 4 sisters in Italia and 5 in Australia, yes my parents wanted another child to add to the already large, crazy family. A family that in spite of all the drama it creates through emotions, it tends to bond in a love that only a mother can understand.

Then add a wife and three girls of my own to the mix and you have the perfect pandemonium.

Being born into a family like mine, you need hear plugs when having a conversation and a large stomach at the dinner table oh! Let’s not forget a sweet tooth after dinner.

Let’s talk about me now. I am a true Italian at heart with strong World connections because of family and friends. I have very strong morals and passion for cooking. I do not play sport any more but I am the greatest football fan. I love my football and follow Juventus and Napoli in the Italian Serie A, Chelsea in the Premier League, the Western Bulldogs in the Aussie AFL, love the Cleveland Browns and the New Orleans Saints in the NFL and enjoy watching the L.A. Lakers in the NBA......
