Uncle Sam's all American pancakes

American pancakes are great! they are wonderfully fluffy and thick and can be made to perfection on your first first attempt


3 large eggs 1 cup flour 1 teaspoon of baking powder 120 ml of milk

Pinch salt


First, separate the eggs, place the egg whites in 1 bowl and the egg yolks into another.


Add the flour, baking powder and milk to the egg yolks and mix until a smooth dense batter is formed.


Whisk the egg whites with the salt until they form stiff peaks. Fold gently into the batter, it is now ready to use



Heat a non-stick pan on a medium heat.

Pour a little oil onto some kitchen paper and spread onto the pan. Pour some of your batter into the pan and fry for a couple of minutes until it starts to look golden and firm. At this point turn the pancake with a spatula and cook for another one or two minutes. Continue frying until both sides are golden.


You can make these pancakes large or small, to your liking.


You can serve these wonderful pancakes simply drizzled with a dob of butter, maple syrup and sprinkle of icing sugar.


Or you can top them with


Berries or fresh banana and maple syrup........

Crispy bacon, maple syrup and walnuts

Whipped cream and maple syrup

Yogurt, berries and maple syrup

Lemon syrup


or anything else that you love
